With Berlin as a natural gateway to safety after a start in Kyiv and stops in Warsaw, many Ukrainians ended and still end up staying in our capital. We felt the urgency to work with them for our Winter 2022 issue as we have been closely following the thriving creative scene in Kyiv for some time now in the pages our our magazine and our website. We immediately realized that our Berlin is a city which has overcome division and conquered it. That’s why we shot our editorials and videos along remnants of the East/West divide, like the Wall and checkpoints and how they are museums and memorials now. Bad news of the past.

Our cover story “Beruhigt euch nicht” was shot by Julia von der Heide, who also got nominated for the Society of Publication Designers awards, on the 14th of July 2022.

The story of the Ukrainian dancer Masha and her dancer colleagues was shot by Stephanie Braun on the 16th of June 2022 around the Berlin Wall memorial.

Isaac Newton’s infamous quote “We build too many walls and not enough bridges” is now more relevant than ever. The video to our editorial “Brücken schlagen” by Michael Ulrich was shot on the 15th of June 2022 around Berlin’s most historically most notorious bridges.
