Voices of Wahnsee

A recap of our fashion decisions

At Achtung, we take pride at carefully covering the entire fashion world from big brands to small but super relevant ones who move fashion forward. For our last print issue, we reached deep into the alternative men’s wear scene. It all started with the idea of putting our main character Dj Hell in a Lazoschmidl Spring 2021 swimsuit. After all, Hell is fearless when it comes to clothes. From there on it progressed and we ended up including brands like Boramy Viguier, Ludovic de Saint Sernin, Kenneth Ize (x Karl Lagerfeld), Wales Bonner and Lazoschmidl. This time these voices echoed all the way to the outskirts of Berlin and created waves at the famous Wannsee for our current issue Achtung No. 41: Wahnsinn Wannsee.

Researchprocess

Ayman in a Boramy Viguier coat and the Lazoschmidl cowprint combo really set the tone for the Wahnsinn. Josef Lazo and Andreas Schmidl worked on this collection apart from each other, covid-owed of course, making this the perfect celebratory look for the reopening of bars, clubs and hotspots. Or just walking a dog.

Wahnsinn Wannsee would not have been complete without Ludovic de Saint Sernin and his liberating thoughts on men’s fashion and swimwear. His signature eyelet bottoms would have been too easy though and frankly too un-wahnsinnig. That’s how this look came about. Let’s say a skirt with tank top which at first even made our model Ayman who was observing Ramadan during the shoot uncomfortable.

Vienna-studied, now Lagos situated and recently a collaborator of the brand Karl Lagerfeld: Kenneth Ize as seen on Eliza Kallmann and Johanna Schapfeld in Achtung No. 41 was a strong look. Kenneth is someone to be watched: The money from his work with Karl Lagerfeld was used to build a weaving factory in Northern Nigeria that now produces the fabrics for Ize’s designs. Impeccable design-ability, business savvy and aware.

(Grace) Wales Bonner – another designer with Vienna ties. Funnily enough she’s currently the head of Die Angewandte the fashion university where Kenneth Ize studied. Her adidas tracksuit worn by Elvis, the son of Marcus Kurz from Nowadays GmbH who was the organizer of our shoot, was actually one of the last shots we took. It came full circle.
