The House of Valentino under the stewardship of its designer Pierpaolo Piccioli stands for the pure love of fashion and doing things differently. Case in point, its new Valentino Garavani VLogo Signature art book, which is centered on re-interpretations of the House’s 70’s logo.
Logos have become an important communication tool in fashion especially for a venerable brand like Valentino. The brand name is a global signifier for style.
Doing things his own way, Piccioli came up with a brilliant take to solve the problem and resignifiying the iconic Valentino 70s logo. His idea? To create a high-end art book with ingenious photography and renderings from sixteen independent magazines worldwide to give new meaning to the Valentino logo. Hence the title of the book: Valentino Garavani VLogo Signature.
To hold the free wheeling visual associations from magazines such as Dust and 032c together, Piccioli who is an avid illustrator himself, unpacked his markers and sharpies to sketch and draw in the book to connect the contributions and most importantly stamp his signature on it. Piccioli has authorship.
The book is put together in the exact same way Piccioli works on his collections. It’s about as handmade as a book can be and Piccioli went as far as color proofing the individual pages.
Piccioli’s Valentino Garavani VLogo Signature book will be available for Euro 62.50 in selected Valentino stores worldwide and distributed online on IDEA Shop.
Plus, Maison Valentino is launching a series of activations in major fashion cities like Tokyo, Rome, London, New York and Milan.
