While the job title of brand architect or image director gets thrown around easily, this January all eyes are on Aldo Fallai at Milan’s Armani/Silos in an exhibition about the photographer next to Giorgio Armani who is co-responsible for many years of the brand’s advertising imagery.

Celebrating his 90th birthday next summer, Armani has decided to shift the focus of his yearly exhibit to someone from his inner circle, unlike last year’s Guy Bourdin retrospective. The exhibition “Aldo Fallai for Giorgio Armani, 1977-2021” was curated by him, his sister Rosanna and his right hand Leo Dell’Orco and includes 250 photographs in no chronological order and without captions. They are not needed anyways, the creative exchange between Giorgio Armani and Aldo Fallai comes across without any explanation. Mr. Armani says about Aldo Fallai: “Working with Aldo allowed me from the very beginning to transform the vision I had in my mind into real images: to communicate that my clothes were not just made in a certain way with certain colors and materials, but that they represented a way of life”. The result is a unique body of work in faded black and white which are embedded in the collective fashion memory. The exhibition runs until August 11th 2024 and we think that no trip to Milan should be planned without a visit at the Armani/Silos.
