Jacket KARL LAGERFELD
ACHTUNG: How did you get to Berlin?
Anastasiia: On the third or fourth day of the war, my mom and I decided to go to Poland. As the electricity was very unstable and my grandfather could only breath with a special oxygen device after a covid infection, we wanted to find a way to get him out. That day was horrible because we had to leave my grandmother and him behind. Luckily, in Warsaw we found a place where we could rent a portable device, so my mom went back to get my grandparents. Now they are in Greece with my aunt and their kids. I decided to go to Berlin from Warsaw just for a couple of days to visit. I did not plan on staying in Berlin, but in the end I did.
ACHTUNG: Why Berlin?
Anastasiia: Because I was impressed by how alive, progressive, and powerful the city is. And I found a new home at Claudia’s and her family, who was aware about all the tragedy of the war and wanted to help.
ACHTUNG: What did you do in Ukraine? What are you doing now?
Anastasiia: I was sometimes working as a service person, and that’s what I’m doing now.
ACHTUNG: Where do you go to find hope?
Anastasiia: I call my family.

ACHTUNG: What smell has home?
Anastasiia: It smells like my grandmother’s food and her eyes are the color of home.
ACHTUNG: The smell of Berlin?
Anastasiia: Berlin smells like freedom and its color is the color of the night.
ACHTUNG: The one piece of clothes that you (brought with you and) would never give away?
Anastasiia: Jewelry that my mom gave to me.
