So here it goes. The new Prada of Miuccia and Raf is less about Belle de Jour, the Buñuel movie which has been a constant influence in la Prada’s oeuvre. Raf who has had horror movies included in his work over the decades (especially at Calvin Klein) is bringing a darker and less kinky element. All that is well and good for Miu Miu as Prada can live out her naughtiness there. Ever since she has been linked up with stylist Lotta Volkova the collections have a newfound energy and dictate the fashion pulse. Last year’s cut off skirt and top session baring the naval is still reverberating in the fashion world and has now trickled down to the Zara and H&M’s of the world. The look is everywhere. So now Miu Miu has moved on and is setting its sights in a more tailored and mostly in brown leather direction. Even Miss Prada wore a brown leather mini jacket and below the knee skirt to greet her guests.

Leather looks?
“If I could, the entire collection would have been in leather. I love leather”, quipped Miuccia backstage. There were a few stone washed tailored denim looks but the core of the collection was in leather with a similar washed effect. It came in suits, short skirts and micro jackets.

Miu Miu Men?
Back in the day there was a cool Miu Miu men’s collection which was abandoned. Now a few men’s looks were back on the runway. Prada explained backstage that men buy Miu Miu women’s looks at the moment so they wanted to expand the offer. It looked terrific especially the multi-zipper parka which was elongated to look like dresses.

The new detail?
Always tuning into the world around here, there were many multi pocket supply belts around the models waists recalling soldier uniforms.
