What a moment for Rick Owens. After opening a spectacular retrospective at Palais Galliera last June which is still open he switched up gears for his latest lingerie tinged women’s show to hypothetically add new pieces for further exhibitions. It was a tour de force of shape shifting silhouettes and fabric constructions in his muted colors that showed a return to great form after a few weaker women’s of late. Circling around body and shape wear with tank top dresses to the floor, Owens took a trend and made it his own. Descending a giant staircase and marching straight into the water, the models showed a graceful harmony of fashion with the elements. In fact, all the industrial water hoses, metal stairs and the techno soundtrack still managed to conjure up the emotion of delicacy. His ability to still expand his universe and add new layers to his oeuvre is fascinating as this was a whole new level of body draping and shaping often creating protective shields around the waist. Also, Owens seems to have fallen in love with slicing and splicing his shiny fabrics resulting in giant fringe and spike sculptures on many looks.

Where comes the novelty from?
Seeing legions of his signature maxi (Neapolitan) shoulder jacket clad fans outside the show, Owens had a new twist for the runway to hold his layered chiffon capes. They were made from silver metal taking this look to the next level.

The Berlin moment?
