Wales Bonner runway veteran: German model Leon Dame, our Nr. 14 on the A50 list
It is a long path to step out of the talent shadow and become a bona fide designer with collaborations and a serious business. Grace Wales Bonner seems well on her way to achieve that while many fellow LVMH prize winners have not made it. But then she is probably the most relevant fashion designer working today with her academic approach of elevating her ancestors to equality through her fashion. So much that her name is even a plausible and audacious suggestion for the succession at Chanel. She has honed her skills and yesterday’s show was a standout of elevated men’s wear with fine of the moment tailoring and perfect pieces like motorcycle leather jackets and colorful knitwear. Wales Bonner is becoming a real colorist with flashes of neon orange on collars and deep reds in swimming trunks. When she had a hard time to merchandise her ideas into product at the beginning, her adidas collaboration and maturing have put her on a whole new pedestal as a serious fashion brand in growth mode.

The tailoring?
In a moment when Giorgio Armani American Gigolo soft tailoring is sweeping the international runways, it was good to see that Wales Bonner knows how to cut a jacket and keep the Savile Row line intact like on a cream colored one button jacket which looked regal and cool.

The use of leather?
Wales Bonner found a clever way to shine a light on her updated wardrobe staples by using black leather. There was a cream trenchcoat with black leather collar and a stand out jeans with black waist and stripes on the side.
