Milan Men’s Summer 2022 Highlights 2

Forza Italia

This is really a Dolce & Gabbana moment. Always distilling the Italian spirit in their collections, mostly channeling Sicily and the black of the widow, the design duo put on the first big live show in the entire world under strict Covid protocol yesterday. The show was based on light and giant carnival decor constructions with thousands of colorful light bulbs mostly in the Italian flag red, green and white illuminated the Metropol space on Viale Piave. With Italia playing the leading role at the world’s third biggest sporting event the Euro 2021, this was a perfect return to the big runway stage.

Festival of Lights

Working a theme?

The mini light bulbs showed up as colorful crystals on everything from tailored suits to “strassed” out denim and all outerwear. The Italian flag in silk shorts and tank tops and only the two could slap Italia on the back of their shirts as if they owned the country.

Crystal applications

The suit?

Always grounded in the black suit for men or the black dress for women, novelty was achieved by turning the lining on jackets sleeves inside out with exaggerated volumes. This looked fresh.

Destroyed denim?

After a few calmer years, the completely destroyed denim look is back. Slashing holes wherever they can and then applying strass wherever it holds celebrates the return of the Total Kaputt jeans.

Stefano Gabbana?

Always the one in the duo to cause the headlines, Stefano has his hair dyed in Italian green to support the football team if we’re not mistaken from catching a glimpse at the finale.
