A coat is a cape is a skirt is a sleeve

We love shoots where it’s all in the styling
If you style one good show per fashion season, so they say, you needn’t lift a finger for the rest of the year. Hello, Camilla, Joe and so on. Sadly, there aren’t enough shows—and mostly it’s the same names each time around as in Camilla, Joe or Karl. Someone new on the stylist-spangled horizon we wanted to see take a swing at a shoot is Berlin-based creative Arkadiusz Swieton. Together with photographer Tobias Wirth, they developed an admittedly simple idea: re-contextualize clothing. Blazers become capes, coat sleeves an impromptu bandeau, a Prada dress never worn as intended but used as a shield to hide behind.
We’re sure there is plenty of deeper messaging here at play, but at the end of the day we’re a fashion magazine—we focus on the garment, not the theory. And in a time when total-look-policies and DMR evaluations seem to rule out creativity and rule over (indie-) publications such as ACHTUNG, we’re happy to see a spark of rebellion from up-and-coming stylists who are finding new ways to showcase clothes in genuinely interesting ways.
