Paris Men’s F/W 2026 Highlights Part 3

Opening the next chapter of Dries Van Noten

There is nothing comforting about adolescence so you might as well have the clothes that make you feel good. This was on the mind of Julian Klausner when designing and he delivered another hit collection for men’s by keeping it very much in the Dries Van Noten vernacular, but new. It seems that his love for knitwear is adding a new chapter to this house. The opening look of a classically Victorian period cut long coat had a rich multi-color knit lapel worked in and most of the coats and blousons were in fact knitted and not cut from cloth. There is a beautiful languid feeling to the tailoring with full pants flowing around the legs and pooling around the feet and roomy shorts-meet-kilt hybrids which were spread generously throughout the show to play the feminine angle without jumping into it. Ahead of his Dries Van Noten F/W 2026 men’s collection, Klausner was in Japan for an inspiration and store tour last fall and listened to the singer Maki Asakawa and her song Yo Ga Aketara about leaving home to reach the city and it resonated. This got him into the idea of developing a lineup of favorite pieces – totems for teenagers who can wear the same thing day in and day out – from the Van Noten closet which always had a weakness for British fabrics and school uniforms turned upside down.

A new trick?

Klausner likes to layer tight knitted vests over out of the trouser sticking shirts and loosely bound ties hanging out to inject a careless collegiate feeling which feels new and not preppy. His gang of adolescents is more a fashion fantasy than the copy cat prepsters which other houses are keen on serving up these days.

The accessories?

Klausner has a knack for making sneakers which look unlike anyone else’s and the generally flat shoes combined with a pair of chunky socks in Fair-Isle-patterns looked very cool. Just like the wool caps used in styling.
