The pandemic’s one overreaching positive effect is that people are thinking more locally again. Also, in the fashion industry. Albert Kriemler had his last show in St. Gallen, a Swiss city famous for fantastic fabrics. Proenza Schouler unveiled their new collection upstate New York in their country house and C.P. Company – a legendary outer- and street wear company from Emilia-Romagna – decided to celebrate its 50th anniversary by doing pieces commemorating Italian icon Lucio Dalla. Both C.P. founder Massimo Osti and Dalla were Bologona boys.
Dalla was a songwriter/singer whose music became the soundtrack for the lives of generations of Italians. Let’s call him the country’s Bob Dylan. The post-68 generation in Europe had issues – from German and Parisian street fights to Italian protests. Dalla condensed fears and hopes of his contemporaries in lyrics ranging from the environment, religion and love. Dalla was a close friend of Massimo Osti and while Osti often made garments for Dalla to wear on stage, Dalla contributed graphics and ideas to Osti’s clothing. Their friendship was real and profound.
The first chapter of the 50th anniversary celebration series is a collection of five short-sleeved and one long-sleeved T-shirt with original archive graphics, pictures and new works of art.
The exclusive capsule collection “Lucio Dalla & Massimo Osti. IMPRENDIBILI” will be available on 50.cpcompany.com and in all C.P. Company flagship stores in Milan, Amsterdam, London, Seoul and Tokyo starting March 10th, 2021.
