Baden-Baden: Where the water is wetter and the trees are greener. Also where Dostojevski lost all his money gambling in the South German UNESCO heritage site in the year 1867. Another Russian author, Ivan Turgenev wrote humbly “Do come to Baden-Baden. Here are the most magnificent trees I have ever seen. They do wonders for the eyes and the soul.” in a letter to Gustave Flaubert in 1865. Fast forward to 2023, ACHTUNG is turning 20 and our celebratory issue is being created in cooperation with UNESCO. It would almost be ignorant not to create an elaborate story in Baden-Baden for our anniversary.
