All of us know this feeling after seeing something for the first time, we suddenly notice it all the time. “Frequency illusion cognitive bias” is the fancy psychological term for this phenomenon. It started when I went to the supermarket and I realized that the logo of Edeka happens to be in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Walking back home with bags full of groceries, all of a sudden I started seeing this color combination everywhere. With the spring sky in blue, daffodils in yellow bloom and Berlin’s public transport in yellow, Blau und Gelb became ubiquitous. I like the thought of the city making a statement about which side it is on.
