A lot of what we’ve been witnessing here in Milan found its peak last night in the Giorgio Armani Men’s S/S 2027 show. Light tailoring, fluid fabrics and as much airiness and temperature control as possible being given to the wearer whilst still looking well put together. Naturally, it’s Armani we’re talking about. We fear the heatwaves can only get worse from here on out, however it has always been Armani to stay on top of fashion’s developments while taking global ongoings into account, or even riding the wave before anyone else, especially when it comes to the men’s division of the house. Leo D’ell Orco found his inspiration in the Mediterranean, which, for an Italian fashion giant makes sense, but genuinely became visceral as the collection unfolded. Starting out in every earthy tone imaginable in a wide array of fabrics like crisp linens juxtaposed against super soft velour jackets, denims treated to appear silk-like, or extremely thin leathers as in this one collarless jacket in chocolate brown.

The standouts, and admittedly this might be subjective taste, were the combat pants and multi-pocket jackets with a whiff of militaria but oftentimes seen in the Mediterranean way of dressing, tying it all back together. Of course we also saw a few more on-the-nose moments of oceanic inspiration like the deep blue printed silk shirts or a dark blue, very cool long trenchcoat-adjacent loosely knitted cardigan. Intertwined with Silvia Armani’s women’s wear cruise collection, which aligned seamlessly into the men’s line-up and the Mediterranean concept like the rippling wave resembling pleated blouses, last night’s long Armani parade was truly a marine breeze of fresh air for the brand.
