Titled „Body of Composition“ the Prada S/S 2026 collection was a reaction to overstimulation in our culture. A topic Prada has touched upon frequently in past collections. Lastly, for S/S 2025 when Prada and Simons co-dialogued on how algorithms determine our daily media consumption and the sameness which comes from it. So, a year later it’s not about making a general comment but rather extracting something specific, examining the single garment in lieu of seeing the whole arrangement. Multi-colored patchwork skirts are paired with a bralette hidden under an un-embellished duffle coat. Or a trench coat meets a Dirndl worn with supple leather opera gloves. What we’re getting at is that the separate items of clothing that have become so innately Prada were newly composed so that in the end stood a reevaluation that only a Prada collection can provoke. 

It didn’t take long for the fresh ideas to come shooting down the runway. Tiny pinstripe bralettes with a triangular shaped hemline were probably the smartest and most subtle way of branding in the whole line-up. Speaking of which, the House of Savoy emblem was embossed quite a lot onto all types of jackets with a subtle Prada lettering below foregoing the recent hefty use of the triangle. In other news, Miuccia Prada decided it was time to put her new fine jewelry line to use to create even more commotion in the styling of the looks.

What surprised us the most were the clear „Dirndl“ references made all throughout the show, most notably in a look worn by German model Penny Ternes. The clearly recognizable „Mieder”, or bodices, flaring out into generous A-line skirts cinched at the waist via ribbon made the references harder to spot but the influence was evident. Even embroidery heavily resembling the alpine flower Edelweiss gave way to a lot of interpretations as to why and how Prada and Simons got inspired here. Did they visit Oktoberfest?

In true Prada fashion, every collection brings forth a couple of styling wonders – for men’s it was the bizarre straw hats back in June. Yesterday it was a skirt suspended from the shoulders almost creating a whole new garment as if it were a very deeply neck-lined wife beater which just can’t be practical to wear.
