Vaquera’s Bryn Taubensee and Patrick DiCaprio have decided to set up shop for good in the French capital. After showing here for quite a few seasons now, the two have decided to commit after celebrating ten years of the brand just last year. Details like a western-inspired belt buckle were exploded showing they have not changed their approach that much from their beginnings: Vaquera means cowgirl after all. But also, very French coded accessories like a white pearl chain was blown up and exaggerated to mark their metaphorical arrival here in Paris. Their collection focused a lot on volume play made apparent in the middle section of the line-up in looks mostly kept in black and white in a top- and bottom-heavy silhouette that was bundled tightly around the hips.

Bras being a brand-staple, often printed on T-Shirts in past collections were shown again this time to work as garments themselves, hanging over shoulders or sweeping the floor – not really wearable for a brand that wants to have commercial success though. The white-painted coat and knit looks were a bit too much on the nose Margiela-inspired. A standout look however: The silver bomber jacket paired with a puffy black mid-thigh skirt, black tights and a black beret. That’s what we want to see from Vaquera please: New York but Paris, but also easily Berlin where the brand has a big following which we can testify for.
