Street Style 2014
Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis, New York and London
To showcase photographer portfolios will become a regular feature for Achtung Online. And as we are in the middle of fashion week, it beckons for a little street style. We prefer to focus on people we have featured in Achtung Mode before. Hence, for our debut it had to be our recent „Made in Germany“ column subject Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis. The young princess from Regensburg is in fact one of the most succesful Germans in the fashion world today as style editor at large of American Vogue. On top of that, she is also one of the best dressed women in the world, at least we think so at Achtung. We asked Berlin street style ace Sandra Semburg to train her lens on Elisabeth during the first leg of the collections in New York and London, the two cities she splits her time between. No easy task as Elisabeth is not a girl who likes to be in the spotlight and does not pose for the street style photography armies as readily as many of her colleagues.
Here is a small selection of what Sandra managed to shoot and a clear style picture emerges. Elisabeth likes colorful and bold dresses mixed with classics like a denim jackett or just Converse sneakers. A big fan of Proenza Schouler, Elisabeth wears the directional pieces of the design duo a lot as they go perfectly well with her gutsy gentility. She even wore Proenza to her sister’s Polterabend in Munich’s club P1 followed by a Christian Dior gown the next day for the wedding (one of Europe’s most talked about society events, the nuptials of her sister Maria Theresia to London artist Hugo Wilson). Now that’s what we call range.
And when in London, well, she is dressed more like a Londoner as the Chelsea boots and black and white checkered coat show proof.
