Fashion loves a surprise!
In their new collection, the designers behind Peter Pilotto threw all their signature touches out the window and came up with refined clothes that celebrate the power of individuality with a ruffle here and there
London Fashion Week is full of promising names but it seems that the label „hot young designer“ is generally more of a burden than an opportunity. Most brands crap out after three or four seasons. Not so the design duo of Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, the couple behind Peter Pilotto. „We said, let’s stop the photo print craziness and do something else“ explained De Vos backstage.
Hence instead of going to Peru or other remote places to find photo print inspiration, the design duo spent their summer vacation in Greece, or better in a lazy Mediterranean mood. And that was well worth it as their collection was anchored in effortless chic for young and older women who like to dress up and look just a bit different than the rest. They dared with fantastic fabric and color combinations, they convinced with a grown up and strong long silhouette and more and more these two designers are becoming colorists. Playing with intarsia of furniture and car interiors, the pair found a way to harness their fantasy in developing new shapes like a super high above the waist skirt which looked like the drawer in a fabulous piece of furniture.
What’s best about this show is the fact that these two are designers who have patiently followed an ambitious career path and are still around to pack in the editors and buyers and manage to produce something new.
