Big Apple in Black and White
It’s not easy to find the right way to present a collection that’s ultimately destined to compliment a famed accessories brand. In the case of Hogan, for fall/winter 2015 designer Simon Holloway got everything right. He decided on a series of seamless mini shows with a score of models marching back and forth on a catwalk that resembled a pedestrian crossing in Manhattan. Images of iconic NYC structures – like the Flatiron Building – dominated the video projection of the Big Apple, all shot in black and white. New high top sneakers with a big bold H, the brand’s signature logo, looked cool on athletic inspired bike messenger clothes and Downtown prep tailoring. It showed how Holloway’s previous job at Jimmy Choo making men’s footwear comes in very handy in anchoring Hogan on the fashion circuit. The clothes were cool, clean and hit the right spot. Just like Holloway did in his best show to date for the brand.
