Etro F/W 2016
Etro shows have been under the radar in Milan. The label is never super trendy or hyped and simply delivers very cool clothes based on clever knits and beautiful prints, often Indian inspired. But lately Kean and his sister Veronica Etro have been shaking up the Milan schedule by putting on powerful shows in a giant white show space on the outskirts of Milan.
The label is in synch with the consumer’s interest for ecologically aware garments and for his men’s shows, Kean always puts on a big film before the show starts. This season his cameras ranged about tropical forest and bucolic highlands – seen in glorious color on a massive screen that recalled that old 50s legend – Technicolor. It all felt in synch with the Sherlock Holmes Chesterfields and window pane check top coats; pleated wool pants and a series of brogues and wingtip-monks that really popped in emerald green and canary yellow.
And let’s give it up big for Sir Kean’s casting – led by a golden Afro dandy, an Adonis among guys who managed to have street cred’ and class. Just like this whole collection, and increasingly its menswear.
