Dsquared2 S/S 2016
DSquared2’s cool Cariocas
DSquared2 got a new makeover for next spring. A sporting one, though nothing too terribly healthy; for these are sports stars whose preferred training ground will be a rave party in Rio or a sunset feast in Goa.
Marching in surfboarders boots jazzed up with mountaineer ropes as laces; underneath Leprechaun’s pointy knit caps, the models had all the art punk attitude of dudes riding the really big wave in Tahiti.
Perforated Basketball singlets with palm tree prints; board shorts in laminated orange or tent-size parkas all added to the sense of youthful gusto. Half the cast wore body stockings finished as elaborate tattoos – graphic, nostalgic and rebellious.
Featuring some great new acid dyed denim done like marble, the collection ranged across the planet for inspiration. Just like the soundtrack, which ended with James Brown remixed with Led Zeppelin.
“Teenage gypsy surfer heartbreakers,” chorused the gents backstage, amid a mob of models in body stockings. Staged in their new show space where they had already presented a stellar women’s collections, the twins seem to be taking their fashion design game to the next level.
